Will have cards to post tomorrow!!!!

I've got 8 Easter cards ready to put together and one special one for my baby sister who will be celebrating her birthday on Easter this year! She was born on the 4th day of the 4th month at 4:44 in the afternoon on Good Friday! Guess what she claims her lucky # is?!?

Then I will try and zip out some simple ones to get in the mail for OWH! Operation Write Home.

See you then!!!

The compitition was a success & shawl got done!!

Compitition was great--got 3rd out of 13 and brought home the bronze metals!!! Bob Jones HS Winter Guard 2010---ROCK!!!

The shawl was more work than I had thought it would be--but got it done!!! When did my little princess turn into such a beautiful young lady?

Now, back to MY life....making cards!!!
Now I will make cards for family and friends, but mostly for Operation Write Home (OWH)!!! I have a real passion for this because my dad and father-in-law fought in WWII! I love this country and the men and women who serve it!

Sorry I haven't been around....

My 17 yr old daughter is in Winter Guard and has her final compitition tomorrow in Nashville.

Then Saturday is prom and her boyfriend is a Sr (she's a Jr) and I'm making a shawl to go with her gown--I'll post pix later--she doesn't want anyone to see it until Prom!

But I did do some work on the Design Studio for about 4 cards I want to make--so I'l have a busy Sat nite and Sunday!!

Got my Scor-pal and pad that goes with it today--I'm excited to start using it and my new Easter cartridge!

Be back soon!!!

My first cards for OWH....

I will be praying over them before I send them out. I will also send a 'Dear Hero' card also.

If anyone is interested, please see click on Operation Write Home.

My card has a beige mat 5.25 x 4 and the bottom pattern mat is 5.25 x 1.5

The 'hugging' pup is from the Cricut cartridge Paper Pups
and the sentiment is from the same cartridge.

The dog is cut at 3" and the hug? at 2".

I made 4 of these.

I also have decided to make 2 of each card I make and send one to the OWH. It is almost as easy to make two as it is to make one.....let's make sure they have plenty of cards!!! They don't have Hallmark's on every corner!!!!

I have a challenge.....(Cardz Challenge #17)

for all you that make cards for challenges! What do you do with them?

On the side of this blog is a link to OWH--Operation Write Home! Sending the cards to soldiers, serving us. Let's face it--there ain't no Hallmark Stores around the corner from their quarters!

The reward....that warm feeling inside that you have done something good!

My daddy was in WWII. I wish someone would have done this for him.

My feeling is: If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #16.....

This week's challenge is to make a card for Spring using flowers, birds or butterflies from any cartridge(s) and using any colors you'd like. (Go here.)

Spring is in the Air! And so is a butterfly--flittering around....getting the attention of a puppy!

I got my new cartridge Paper Pups! I love this cart and have since my friend Mary at Cardz TV used it in a few cards...just had to have it....also got Doodlecharms and Graphically Speaking (which I used to make the shoe card--weird) and now I have won the Easter 2010 cartridge (it's the mini-cart--but almost ordered it and figured 3 cart this month was enough and then Mary show the new (on HSN only--I think) Straight from the Nest---soooo cute!!!

If you don't know Mary, press here and enjoy!!!!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #15....

When the shoe fits.....

buy one in every color!!!

Oh how true!

I've really had fun doing this one because it is funny and TRUE!

Putting the black outline around the shoes wasn't fun, but not as hard as I thought it would be. I was going to us my little Xyron, but then remembered dear hubby had gotten me a Embellishement Glue Stick by Pioneer--says Extra strong!

It worked pretty well!

Here's how it was done!!

My Gatefold Card details:

Paper for card 5 ½ x 8 ½
Scor 2 1/8” from each end.

Outside of card mat:
Solid mats: 1 7/8 x 5/1/4
Pattern mats: 1 5/8 x 5

Inside of card mats:
Solid mat: 4 x 5 ¼
Pattern mat: 3 ¾ x 5

I used cart:
A Child’s Year-p75
I used card/shift/center 1 ¾” cut for the 2 front phrases.
I used card/shift/center 3” cut for the inside phrase.

Graphically Speaking-p 63
I used Icon/1 ½” cut black for bottom front shoe.
I used Icon Blackout/1 ½” blue for bottom front shoe.

I used Flip/Icon/1 ¼” cut black for top front shoe and
Used flip/icon/1 ¼” cut blue for top front shoe.

The different color shoes are done the same at 1 ¼” (2 reg—2 flip)

I ran the words off of my computer—font BixAntiqueScriptHm 18 pt except the word every in=22 pt..

I used card/shift/center 1 ¾” cut for the 2 front phrases.
I used card/shift/center 3” cut for the inside phrase.

Any questions--drop me a note!
